The graphite feels almost 'creamy' in how smooth the fall is on paper and it builds and blends beautifully. A couple of the pencils are scratchy too - easily digging lines into the paper. The harder "H" through "H4" feel hard, but they don't have the irritating rough spots of clay that suddenly scratch the paper.
