Early dinner service, fast and speedy and they address the children in a way that makes them feel special. I often have the fresh pan fried fish of the day and the risotto. Went there for a Saturday lunch.

Finally seated at a lovely table on the front patio, where the hostess made sure we were far enough from a smoking table not to be bothered. Mea Culpa has been on the radar of all of Auckland’s cocktail aficionados for many years now, and slides smoothly into any list that is compiled on the city’s best cocktail haunts. Our waitress was awesome, and recommended some delicious dishes. An institution that manages to do keep its mojo. Prego was extremely generous with their portion of shredded duck, which mixed so well with the creamy and truffle tasting risotto. Always sure to impress this old staple of Ponsonby Rd!Ah Prego.

I ordered the Pappardelle Al Ragu, a braised lamb pasta with wide noodle. The eye fillets were cooked perfectly, and the vegies...Went on a recommendation of a friend. Service wonderful, waitress very attentive, informative and sweet. Both meals and the service were excellent. Still, we go. It was a rainy day so it was a perfect comfort food. Inside and outdoor seating make this restauant ideal for almost any occasion. Ordered the Bruschetta and Burrata to share as appertizers and I order the Italian seafood soup as main with the polenta to share. Seated quickly and the food was very nice. Service was good. Prego has had a recent makeover, it's still a minimalist space but with some acoustic and furniture upgrades its better.I just wanted to come here because I still have "Prego" ringing in my ears from last year in Italy. Our server was extremely friendly and the ambiance is really nice as well.Prego has been around for over 25 years and it remains just as busy as the day it opened! The food consistently good, sometimes spectacular. They say it all the time. It truly feels like a celebration when I eat here, the food is just incredible. Grabbed a table on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. We focused largely on some of their classic dishes, like the fish soup, and the food was brilliant....First time at Prego, even I have heard about it for ages. Interior is nice and minimalistic, with dim lighting.

All food are great...This restaurant is an institution I first went there the week it opened maybe 1986 every time I go back to Auckland I go there.March 16 I had a family reunion of sorts I called ahead and booked for 10 people.On a Monday night what...Happened upon Prego as we were strolling in Ponsonby. Our waitress from France was very professional and her suggestions… And it still sets a high bar. Our traditional Italian food is always made from the best fresh local produce, the wine list is stacked with the best value New Zealand and international producers and, of course, our service is consistently good wherever you are sitting. Cost NZ$90 for two people (approx.) Italian food at its best with a kiwi twist. Still a place to see and be seen, still with some of the worst acoustics around.
This happened on a holiday in Auckland and after a quick bit of research I was on my way to Prego. Portions are perfect and dessert deeelish!
