Given what the aristocracy was in that part of the world, sitting in an intersection for East, West, and a mix of multiple languages and cultures, it works. The movie was officially Russian but made in that pan-national approach that's becoming more common, with casting the English actress helpful.

Thriller. Young and unfortunate brother and sister, Misha and Aletta's lives are lost in a downward spiral as they attempt to break free from the blood queen's clutches. The year is 1990. While not historically correct the context is present and it's a decent effort. The movie was a heap of garbage from beginning to end. The story mostly surrounds around a gypsy brother and sister whom come under Countess Bathorys control. People love monsters. There is no dialogue at all. Irina is dying. Bathory is based on the legends surrounding the life and deeds of Countess Elizabeth Bathory known as the greatest murderess in the history of mankind.

There have been more opulent productions Erzsebet Bathory, such as Julie Delpy's and Juraj Jakubisko's about 10 years ago. This movie was just terrible. I used the word fact in quotes because of possible misinterpretation of Countess Bathorys take. Andrei Konst. They did do a nice job with injecting the elements that you would recognize as associated with vampire lore and entertainment and yet ultimately staying out of the supernatural, and they stuck with moody and atmospheric as the overall tone through about 2/3 of the movie, playing with what version of the famous story they were going to tell.
