It's very easy to refill with this converter: simply rotate the back to push the plunger in, insert your pen nib into the inkwell, and rotate the back to suck up the ink (takes 5 minutes, including cleaning the nib).

My lamy hasn't written better since I've started using the converted, probably because of the flushing action with every refill.

Bought 2, both fit in Lamy Al-Star and Safari, I use with Waterman Ink and the flow is generally good, holds a good quantity of ink, I can get through around 10 sides of A4 without needing a refill. So far there's no flaws it acts as if it were a cartridge- though I got a little bit confused with how much twisting I needed to do to the cap before the ink got through to the tip of the pen.
