When I ordered the pen I was expecting injection molded plastic with the pattern of an acrylic pen, but this thing is the real deal.
If I had gotten the nib and feed from my girlfriend’s pen, I might have given the pen a 9 or 10 out of ten, but as it stands for the pen I got, the writing it delivers just can’t justify a score that high. Great review, and agreed! It is a hooded nib, which in my experience can take a bit longer to flush out between inks, but if you go in knowing that it’s otherwise completely fine. When you first start writing with the pen, it is perfectly fine, no issues. The updated clip and cap really brings a nice feel to the classic Parker 51 or 21 riff. The wood is satin, the grain pops, and it still feels like wood. Halfway through the lecture I had to switch to a Pilot Gel Pen I had in my backpack so I didn’t miss any information. I just wish it wrote better. I really loved everything about this pen’s appearance, design, and construction. Unlike the Hero 616 and others like it, the Jinhao doesn’t even bother changing the model number, although maybe they think the A at the end will be enough to confuse Parker away from trying to take any action. … The pen doesn’t dry out when left for a few days.I wanted to bring up the shine and visibility of the grain but keep the feel of the wood. This is a beautiful pen I am going to enjoy. The convertor isn’t the best quality, it feels pretty flimsy, but it works fine, so I can’t complain too much about something included for free. I have my eye on the blue swirl too. in stock . Most importantly though, THIS PEN IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I find that the pen is balanced when posted and feels good. It also feels good when unposted.This is a cartridge or converter pen, and mine arrived with a Jinhao converter already installed. The last thing I tried after I rewashed all the parts again was to swap the jinhao converter for an extra jinhao I had from a known good pen, and it seems to work fine now, cross my fingers.
