The menu looked okay and reasonably priced but in reality the food was pretty average. All crockery and cutlery had been put through the dishwasher and left inside so that we could see it had all be cleaned before we arrived.
The acid test of would we return for a 3rd time? Ideal for short Bath city breaks, one week or more long holidays. Situated in a sheltered valley bordered by grassy banks and mature trees, it is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. We ate at the onsite restaurant which was fine and service was good. It was a warm and friendly and efficient welcome. We were pre-advised of this via email so amended our travel plans accordingly. We were in a “Pemberley” lodge in the northern section which felt a little more congested and afforded less privacy than the southern section, although this will vary depending on the lodge type and location. The showers were good in both bathrooms and the kitchen was modern and well equipped.

We headed back to the check in area and we’re informed there had been a mix up and in fact it hadn’t been cleaned, so we’re offered a round of a drinks at the bar. There is a “Watersedge” version of this lodge sited next to the small brook which runs through the park, but personally I can’t see this justifies the premium charged. The accommodation was very comfortable with plenty of room to relax. To the South West is the Mendip AONB and the Cheddar Gorge. The city centre is just over 2.5 miles away from Bath Mill Lodge Retreat, which means you are close enough to the city to take advantage of the attractions, without compromising your enjoyment of the country scenery and wildlife.The city itself boasts a highly populated shopping centre, with first class eating establishments and bars.
